How Fit Your Ability Helped Kimberley to Take On a Marathon
For many, running a marathon is a dream. For Kimberley Dempsey—who lives with cerebral palsy and epilepsy—it seemed nearly impossible. But with determination and the support of Fit Your Ability, that dream is becoming a reality.
Kimberley’s journey began with uncertainty. Everyday tasks using her left hand were difficult, and past gym experiences left her hesitant to ask for help. But finding Fit Your Ability Nerang, an NDIS-registered and inclusive gym, changed everything. With private, tailored sessions and a supportive team, she gained the confidence to train with purpose.
The results have been life-changing: Kimberley lost 60kg, boosted her energy, and completed a 10km run—an unthinkable goal just a short time ago. Now, she’s training for the Gold Coast Marathon.
More than her personal success, Kimberley wants to inspire others with disability to embrace fitness. “Don’t be afraid to come to a gym,” she says. With the right support, anything is possible.
